All right. We have participants here. Welcome, everyone. We're going to give just a couple seconds for people to join us today.
And OK, it looks like most folks are in. So welcome, everyone. My name's Catherine Kleeman. I'm part of the Office of Admissions here at the University of Illinois, Springfield. Before we get into today's presentation, I'm going to go over.
Couple housekeeping items for you so that you're aware we are going. We are recording this webinar and it will be made available after the presentation today. So don't feel like you have to take notes really quick to capture everything within your screen. You'll see that there is a closed captioning option up on the upper right in the bar on the upper right, the little C button that is your closed captioning. Right next to it is the option to make the video full screen.
If you would like that as well, if for some reason you should need to resync your audio or video at any point during the presentation, just refresh your browser and that should clear up any issues that you're having regarding questions, we'd love to hear your questions. We want to know those. So pop those in the chat, feel free to post throughout. We will be looking at those at the end of the presentation and we'll go back through and answer them. So go ahead and put them in and we'll make sure that we get to those.
Before the day is over, um, I am so excited that you're here to join us today. And with that, I want to introduce Doctor Sudeep Sharma, who is from our management program here at UIS. And thank you, Doctor Sharma for joining us today.
Thank you. Thank you everyone for joining us. Thank you for coming. My name is Sudeep Sharma. I'm associate professor of management, specialization in organizational behavior and human resource management at this university.
This webinar is about a masters in human resource Management program which we have in the College of Business at UIS.
Would like to introduce some key aspects of the programs and how you know how important that program is and can be for the best interest of your career plans.
Why choose the US for your HR degree? Very important our university our college is ACSB accredited. Acsb is the is the highest accreditations for the College of Business College and in the business schools is a higher secretions. Our program is 8 week course format which allow you to finish in as little as one year. So you can finish your degree in one year. We have only 30 required credit hours reasonable entry criteria or.
Criteria very reasonable and we have quite flexible course schedule so that they can allow you to students to be full or part-time that that these aspects are very, very unique for this program. You can have a course probably in the first half of the fall, you can finish one course in the second-half of the of the.

Admission criteria. We need a better degree from an accredited college or university where you can have master degree in programs. Our GPA requirement is between 2.0 and 2.49.
But if you have 2.02449 you requires a GMAT score, your advisor will inform you of the minimum score requirement. But if you have GPA 2.5 and above, you do not need a geometric score. So it's a it's a depends on your your GPA. Based on that, we have a geometric requirement, so geometry is not required for all those students applicants who have CPA 2.5 and above.
What are the prerequisites? That's very important. I'm for especially for Masters program, there is none. There's no prerequisite for the degree program when you apply it, so that's a good there's another good aspects of the degree program.

The most important is that our course curriculum is not for the traditional, not only for the traditional HR which are for like the last decade or last last decade, but also for the next decade HR manager. So if you think about our program requirements especially from the core courses and also our electives, they all are designed to prepare you to have HR jobs in the in the in the in the in the year 2030 or 40 like next 1520 years.
On the line what are new aspects which you are going to learn. So we have a component of traditional HR like human resource management, acquiring like selection assessment, strategic HR and performance management which are a part of the general human Resource management program. But we also have courses like HR Analytics or called People Analytics which is the course is more of a big data analysis which can help you to use analytics and AI and machine learning in human resource management which is a very.
Very currently very lucrative market for hiring process for purpose. So we have that course as a core course. But if you see our elective also among the electives, most of the electives we have they are like HR information system. We have electives like international HR which is very important aspects for like for the for the next generation of HR. So we have global HR management, HR topics like that as an elective.
Also we have a topic like collective bargaining and Labor Relations which are also are part of our HR degree program and you can choose those electives across the options which are available.
In terms of the career from the HR, you can have HR generalist, HR specialist, Recruiter, Human Resource Information system analyst, HR Analytics. As I said, these two topics HRIS analysts and HR analytics are very high in demand and then you have traditional HR jobs like Labor Relations specialist, HR managers. These all are potential career options which you have with the degree program, business consultant or other managerial position you can take with HR if you think.

I work at UIS full time and hold a second part time job, Might the classes be offered in the evening or is this an online course? How long does it typically take a person in my full time work situation who chose part time to finish this degree?
About uh, different positions and median salary and you can see that the compensation benefit measures, the salaries are pretty high human resource manager. So still across the Ostar net which is the occupation network, you can see that salary level is more 6065 thousand, 75,000 above for the entry level position for the HR, HR jobs. More importantly beside our curriculum is important to highlight is that our curriculum is designed for you.
To also pass HR certification programs or many HR certification programs like SRM Certifications, you can give these examinations using our course curriculum because our course is very well designed to fulfill the requirements for SHRM certification. So that's another highlight of our curriculum. Beside HR, if you are joining MSHRM program, you can also take graduate certificate because our MBA programs and our other departments have different different.
Certification programs which you can you can take along with MSHRM like applied finance, business analytics, business process management, entrepreneurship, healthcare management and operation supply chain management.
In order to contact us if you're interested for our programs, then we have mmituis.edu you can always reach out to me. I'm the coordinator of MSHRM program right now, so you can reach out to me over the e-mail, you can phone, e-mail whenever you feel comfortable and we will get back to you within 24 hours and provide our response to your question. If I’ve already been accepted into the MBA program, will it be a difficult transition to switch over to HR?
So Lydia asked me a question that I work at US full-time and hold a second part time job. Might the classes be offered in the evening or is this an online course? That's a good question area. This is an online course, so that's the good news. So all the courses are offered online so you can take courses accordingly. Most of the assignments, generally the deadlines are on Saturday Sundays. So you have a flexibility in terms of the, you know, work life balance and you can decide about the course. You can decide.
Need to finish your assignments because most of the courses, most of the recordings are done and generally do it during the semesters so that and then they interact with you regularly, but at the same time you are you are. Deliverability is mostly during the weekend so that is helpful.
How long does it take typically to a person to full time work situation we choose part time to finish the degree. I mean definitely if you have a full time work still I have many students who are working full time extensive job but still they are finishing the degree in one year because with the course and you can take like you have 30 credit hours so you can choose the courses accordingly. If you want to finish in two years you can definitely finish. But some students I have seen they have they have finished in year one year because the course load they could manage with the workplace. So they definitely with a full time job.
Most of my students if I seen right now MSRM many of them are. Many of them are traditional and non traditional students who are working full time.
If I already been accepted into the MBA program, HH Jada. I mean, if I pronounce your name correctly, if you already exited the program will be difficult transition to switch over to HR? No, not really.
You can always transfer from MBA to HR. It's up to your choice if you want to transfer, but there's a process and you can work upon. I think you can speak with the faculty advisors and they can help you out for this transition. The MBA program also have HR concentration, so if you want to go for MBR concentration, you can go for that. But if you want to have a masters in HR, HR management, you can do the transitions. Right now there should not be a.

Would it be better to get the MBA with a minor in HR or just a masters in HR?
Well if you if you want to have a career in HR I was I would suggest that you will it's better to go do the MSN HRM if you want to have career in HR. If you want to have open option from the journal management perspective that you may want to go for her or you may want to go for like general management then probably you can go for MVA with a minor nature. So it's up to the goal which you have in terms of your plan.
After degree. So after degree, if you have thinking, if you have a charge job, I would encourage to go do MSHRM because you will have a very comprehensive picture of her courses. But also you can have SHRM certifications, many HR jobs if you want to go top levels or even the middle level, they want suchar and certification and MSHRM degree program can help you prepare for that certification. So we have SHR and student chapter as well here, so definitely that will be.
That will be the question for you to decide whether you want to go towards HR after your MBA or MSHRM or or general management.
